Teacher
Ron has a background in Physical Education teaching and currently delivers vocational qualifications in sport including the BTEC Level 1 in Sport and Active Leisure and the ASDAN Sport Award. His is also responsible for delivering KS4 Maths where students follow the AQA Foundation Maths specification with a view to sitting the GCSE exam at the end of Y11. In addition to the GCSE, Ron also delivers the Functional Skills Maths qualification.
Prior to starting Education Plus NE, I worked in senior and middle leadership positions in the secondary education sector in the Shildon and Newton Aycliffe areas. I initially started my career in PE teaching but quickly moved to various positions of responsibility in the pastoral care of students. I had a two-year spell working in the EBD sector (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) where I was Assistant Head at Elemore Hall School, with responsibility for the KS4 curriculum and outcomes. My last position in mainstream education was that of Deputy Headteacher in Greenfield Community College, where my key focus and responsibility was on personal development, behaviour and the welfare of students, as well as whole school attendance.
