Company Director
Kevin has over 25 years' experience and expertise in working with, supporting, and developing young people. As a founding director of Education Plus, he leads on business development, PR with schools and local authorities, strategic direction, finance, and developing the "Plus" part of the organisation—concentrating on therapeutic/holistic support and wrap-around family work.
Before founding Education Plus, I worked in the third sector supporting young vulnerable people and disadvantaged communities. I worked for the Youth Offending Service before moving into a senior management role at Sunderland YMCA, where we supported young homeless people aged 16-24, tackling issues including drug and alcohol abuse, anti-social behaviour, self-harm, suicide, domestic violence, leaving care, and mental health.
I joined Teesdale YMCA as CEO in September 2005 and developed many services for young people and community members in rurally isolated areas. The flagship of the organisation was the Alternative Education Provision I started up in 2013. The provision was utilised by schools across Durham.
I supported the region’s YMCAs and was chair of the North East CEO Network. I also sat on the National YMCA Steering Group for Training and Education while based in London and worked internationally in both Europe on young people’s educational projects, and in India on community and children’s projects following the tsunami.
